We didn't get much rain here here So. Calif. -- can anyone suggest decorative plants and flowers that will tolerate full sun and dry conditions (I don't want to have to water them too much)? Appreciate any suggestions. Suzy

All plants will need to be watered when first establishing a good root system but yucca plants, echinacea, coreopsis and lavender are all really good plants for low-water situations. :-)

Hi Angela,
I think lavender is pretty and smells good, too, so that's definitely one I'll try. Just have to read up on the other ones, and figure out which ones I like the best. There are so many choices. Thanks for the suggestions.

Is there a specific color theme or garden design you are wanting to stick to? There has been some amazing new hybrids produces in the Echinaceas lately so there are more color choices there - also many of the new Echinacea plants are fragrant.

Plants grown in Mediterranean style gardens are usually pretty drought tolerant, so you could look around to see if you like any of the plants used in one of those gardens.

I've always liked succulents, designed for scorching sun and parched conditions; there's such variety for every landscape and taste.

oH and have you thought about plumeria? They have a wonderfuly variety of flower color, and a lot of them are very fragrant. Requiring very little water and are pretty pest free.

Succulents are really nice - especially some of the sedums. Angelina is one that looks bright green during the growing season and then bright red/orange in the winter.

Thanks for all the good tips. Now, it's decisions, decisions, decisions. I have a 4x10 space that gets full sun (I live in a townhouse -- not a lot of space. Plus I have to deal with my neighbors cat. Right now I have chicken wire strategically placed in & around some low growing ground cover. Thanks again for the great info.
